Who likes cover reveals!?
And that’s not all! HarperTeen Impulse is now Epic Reads Impulse, which means that the two Orphan Queen novella covers I’ve already shared get a flashy new banner.
And it means I get to share the other two novella covers. At last.
I’d tell you that it’s been really hard for me to sit on these amazing covers for so long, but I don’t think you’d feel sorry for me one bit.
So, are you ready for them? You’ll want to sit down for this.
THE HIDDEN PRINCE is the first novella, releasing June 2, 2015.
THE GLOWING KNIGHT is the second novella, releasing September 1, 2015.
THE BURNING HAND is the third novella, releasing December 1, 2015.
THE BLACK KNIFE is the fourth novella, releasing February 1, 2016. (I think.)
(No preorder links yet.)
So, you may have some questions about these covers. In the tradition of all my other cover reveals, I will answer them before you can ask!
1. Did I have any part in these magical covers?
Nope. My amazing editor and I chatted about symbols for each novella and suddenly I had covers. (Usually I received a cover just as I started the draft of that novella. It was wonderfully inspiring!)
2. Who is responsible for the covers, then?
Ah! Glad you asked! I had the same team for these novella covers as I do for the novel covers. The incredible Colin Anderson did the photography, and the fantabulous Erin Fitzsimmons designed!
3. What do these symbols mean?
*shrug* You will see, I suppose.
4. What order should these be read in?
As with all my stories, read by publication date. Or save the novellas for last. You can read the novellas first, but in spite of how they’re prequels, they totally spoil something huge in the first book. So, read first at your own risk.
5. Will there be a paper bind-up of all four novellas?
Gosh, I’d like that. But it’s not up to me. Harper owns the physical rights to the novellas, as well as the digital rights, so it seems to me the better that they do in digital form, the more likely it is they’ll release a physical form.
6. Are all the stories about Black Knife?
Yep! In fact, it’s all sort of one story, though each novella has its own arc. If you like, you can look at all four as a serialized novel.
7. What else?
Each novella will have two chapters of THE MIRROR KING in the back. The first will have chapters one and two, then the second will have three and four, and so on. Eight chapters of THE MIRROR KING total. Because we love you and want you to be happy and please don’t hurt me after the end of THE ORPHAN QUEEN.
8. Can we see all the covers lined up together?
Your wish is my command.
